brewing notes:
decided to name a beer after my street name in surry hills. i love the old photo of foveaux street, and my dad used to grow up in surry hills so i decided it'd be fun. it's my first BIAB attempt at making an ipa. definitely not as strong as the jean genie, but i'm hoping it will come out similar in style to the vale ipa i've had in bars. this recipe was a clone of that one in a roundabout way. tasted nice going into the cube so fingers crossed it's a good-un. the strange amounts of some of the grain was because i thought i had more (munich) but didn't, so i had to go with the small amount and change the other specialty malts.
tasting notes:
18/07/13 - i have had a few taste tests over the past few days while testing gravity and it tastes pretty nice. only thing i can note is that the citra hops are really noticeably taking over the taste; even detracting from (the less fresh) galaxy and nelson sauvin hops used. i decided to dry hop with only galaxy and nelson for this reason. i've updated the recipe to reflect this and hopefully the flavours and aromas blend and mix and blur a bit closer. at this stage though, it's a very sexy tasting ipa. can't wait to carbonate them and give them a whirl.
06/08/13 - had its first proper taste tonight and i'm really impressed but saddened as the hops have subdued a LOT since bottling. i've read this can happen a lot with bottled IPAs but still wanted to try one. i'm very happy with how it turned out, it is still very young so that could be an issue also. over all, super impressed, just needs more hopsexytime!
23/08/13 - so on sexyfuntime's first year anniversary, i had my last FSI and it was a lovely drop. the flavour has dropped out a lot (i had to drink it cold) but throughout the last few weeks this one has been amazing. super impressed and am looking forward to making this one again.
