brewing / tasting notes:
25/09/16 - this brew will be huge. huge because it will be the first time i'll have done huge whirlpool additions and only one bittering addition for the hops. i'll also be recirculating the wort through the chiller back into the grainfather vessel until the temperature is under 80c and i'll then be adding more hops. very excited. a complete experiment, but one i've been keen to try since i've drunk and enjoyed big american ipas. can't wait!
22/10/2016 - brewed this yesterday and hit all my numbers. i also decided for hoppy beers and for all beers from now on, that i'll be doing away with hop socks. while they've been good for me in the past, they make a whirlpool addition that much harder to do. with my little man 'helping out', the end of the day had to be a bit rushed and i pitched my yeast without hydrating it. fingers crossed it all goes well nonetheless.
11/11/2016 - kegged but not very flavoury. more aromatic and bitter. will not inhibit the hops next time and add a lot more during the whirlpool and actually whirl them without a hop sock.
19/11/2016 - only 7 days in the keg and she's a thing of beauty. version 2 with better whirlpool hop extraction will do her good but so far, really loving it!
